Spring Equinox Kapha Balancing Workshop

  • Solid Gold Yogi 20 Wyckoff Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11237 United States (map)

In Ayurveda, the spring equinox marks the beginning of when the Kapha dosha as the world slowly comes out of hibernation. This transition is apparent in nature as the winter snows begin to melt, releasing their energy into plants, trees, and humans. It’s an important time to cleanse and detoxify, make new intentions, and plant seeds to ensure this vital energy is focused toward your future crops, creative projects and dreams.  However, as water and earth combine to create new life, one can literally and figuratively get stuck in the mud. Kapha dosha is aggravated by qualities that are heavy, moist and cold; therefore, an important factor in not aggravating kapha dosha in the spring is to invite in light, warm, dry qualities through food, activities and self-care rituals.

In this interactive workshop, we will teach you all about the characteristics of Kapha dosha and the Ayurvedic spices, dietary recommendations, essential oils, pranayama techniques, and yoga poses that will help you stay in balance during this time of transformation. We will also sample some seasonally appropriate teas and spice blends.
