Red Shiso Lemonade

Red shiso lemonade! 🍋✨

One of my favorite things to do is to go foraging for unique seasonal ingredients at farmers market. During the summer, produce is ripe for the picking! There are so many fantastic flavors to find and so many ways to keep the tastes of summer going all year long.

My red shiso lemonade recipe perfectly captures the sweetness and brightness this season of sun has to offer! You can make your own by following the recipe below:

Ingredients:

❤️ 6 cups water

❤️ 1 bunch red shiso

❤️ 2 tablespoons maple syrup

❤️ 2 lemons, juiced

Instructions:

🍋 Process your red shiso by picking the red shiso leaves from the stems. Set aside on a parchment lined baking sheet or a dehydrator sheet

🍋 Preheat your oven to 125 degrees and bake for at least 6 hours OR place in a dehydrator on the medium setting for at least 6 hours

🍋 Remove from the oven and store the dried leaves in a cool, dry place

🍋 On medium-high heat, place the pre-measured water in a medium pot to a boil. Once boiling, place 3.5oz of the dried shiso leaves into the water and lower the mixture to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes or until the water turns red

🍋 Remove the tea from heat. Strain the tea through a sieve into another pot and add the maple syrup and lemon juice

🍋 Dilute with regular, sparkling, or soda water to taste
